What to Expect During Inpatient Treatment

Inpatient care gives you a daily structure that’s designed to help you overcome addiction and stay focused on recovery. You’ll take part in therapy, wellness activities, and support that helps you heal one day at a time.

Start with Detox, If Needed

If you enter treatment with substances in your system, detox is often the first step. We’ll help you manage withdrawal symptoms safely and comfortably before moving into the rest of your program.

Learn About Detox

Daily Therapy That Drives Progress

You’ll take part in individual and group therapy throughout the week. These sessions help you build coping skills, process emotions, and explore what led to substance use.

Explore Therapies

Support from People Who Get It

Group therapy creates connection and accountability with others in recovery. Sharing experiences and learning together with others who understand addiction firsthand can make you feel less alone and more supported.

Group Therapy

Psychiatric Care and Medication Management

If you’re experiencing mental health symptoms, our psychiatric team can help. We offer assessments and medication support as part of your personalized care plan.

Recovery-Focused Activities

You’ll join in educational and wellness activities that support your growth and sobriety. These may include mindfulness, life skills, and other tools that help you stay on track.

Nutrition, Rest, and Routine

Substance use can take a toll on your body. Balanced meals, movement, and downtime are built into each day of inpatient treatment. These routines help support physical health, emotional balance, and steady progress.

Planning for What’s Next

We begin aftercare planning early, so you’re prepared to keep moving forward after inpatient treatment. You’ll leave with a clear plan and tools to maintain your sobriety in the real world.

Who Inpatient Treatment is For

Inpatient treatment is usually the right fit for people who need more focused help as they begin recovery. Here are some signs that inpatient treatment may be the best next step.

Struggling to Stay on Track at Home

  • Distractions or stress make it hard to focus on recovery.
  • It’s difficult to avoid triggers or access steady support.
  • A structured environment can provide the space you need to reset.

Ready to Focus Fully on Recovery

  • You’re motivated to make a change and want to start strong.
  • A short-term break from daily pressures could help you heal.
  • Inpatient treatment gives you dedicated time to build a solid foundation.

Been Through Addiction Treatment Before

  • Previous efforts to recover haven’t stuck the way you hoped.
  • You want to try a more immersive or supportive approach.
  • Inpatient care offers time and space to dig deeper into what you need.

Symptoms Feel Overwhelming

  • You’ve experienced intense cravings, emotional swings, or mental health symptoms.
  • It feels hard to manage everything on your own right now.
  • 24/7 care can help you feel more stable and supported.

Northpoint intensive inpatient program is staffed with caring mental health and medical professionals providing individual, family, and group counseling. The facility has natural lighting and plenty of outdoor and indoor space, which I appreciated. They offer medically assisted detoxification and, once stabilized, can suggest medications to help maintain sobriety. Group sessions teach clients to let go of past shame and focus on healthy, effective coping mechanisms.

Inpatient Addiction Treatment FAQs

Do patients have 24/7 access to care?

Yes. Day or night, our clinical team is available around the clock to provide support, guidance, and medical care whenever it’s needed.

How long does inpatient treatment last?

Your length of stay depends on your unique needs and progress. We’ll work with you to create a timeline that makes sense for your recovery.

Can I talk to and see my family while I’m in treatment?

Yes. We offer scheduled visitation on Sundays for family and close friends. You’ll also have a dedicated family session during your stay, either in person or by phone, to support healing at home.

What other addiction programs do you offer?

In addition to inpatient treatment, we offer both outpatient and virtual outpatient programs. These options provide flexibility while still offering structured support. They’re ideal for continuing care or for those who don’t need 24/7 treatment.

Do you offer support after inpatient care?

Yes. We start planning for aftercare early during your stay, so you leave with a clear plan and ongoing support. This may include outpatient care, follow-up therapy, or access to our free lifetime alumni program.
